Annales Aequatoria publishes studies on the languages, societies, and history of Central Africa in general and the Mongo in particular. The journal was founded in 1937 under the title "Aequatoria" and is important in the Belgian colonial context, if only for its link with everyday life in the colony, the viewpoints it aired in relation to colonial practice, and the rights of the African populations. It was published in Coqhuilhatville, Belgian Congo, (now Mbandaka, Democratic Republic of the Congo) from 1937 to 1962 and resuscitated in 1980. The journal is published by the Centre Aequatoria.[1][2]
